 What information does the SLOS collect?

 SLOS collects the following information about its members.  This includes:
• Members name, address and contact details, including email address and telephone number.

This information is collected from membership forms and renewal membership forms. Data will be stored on a computerised IT database & application forms.



Who has access to data?

Your information may be shared internally with the SLOS secretary, treasurer and magazine editor for the purposes communicating with members

SLOS will not share your data with third parties


How will my data be protected?

SLOS takes the security of member data seriously. Controls in place to try to ensure that  your data is not lost, accidentally destroyed, misused or disclosed.

• Attachments are sent encrypted wherever necessary;

• Access to internal systems are password protected;


For how long do the SLOS keep data?

SLOS membership application forms will be kept on file for 6 months, at that end of that period (or once you withdraw your consent), your data is deleted or destroyed.

If membership renewal lapses, for any reason information will be deleted after 12 months.


Your rights

As a data subject, you have a number of rights.  You can:

• Access and obtain a copy of your data on request;

• Request SLOS society to change incorrect or incomplete data;

• Request SLOS delete your data.

If you believe that SLOS has not complied with your data protection rights, you can complain to the Information Commissioner.
